Workplace First Aider
The aim of this SST training course is to teach participants how to intervene effectively in the event of an accident or emergency in the workplace, while also contributing to the prevention of occupational hazards. Open to all employees, this training equips participants with essential skills to ensure workplace health and safety.
Target audience:
All staff members who need to be trained in first aid techniques.
Terms and conditions of access
SST training is conducted exclusively in person and in accordance with the national legislation in force in the countries where it is delivered. The duration of the training, as well as the minimum and maximum number of participants, may vary depending on the country in which the training is conducted.
Entry requirements and conditions:
No prerequisites are required. Our teaching team is available to provide tailored support to each training group.
Training location:
Our training courses are delivered on-site, within your company premises, in line with local national regulations.
Duration and organisation:
This SST training course is delivered exclusively in-person and in accordance with national legislation in the country where it is conducted. The duration and the minimum and maximum number of participants may vary by country. Each training day lasts a maximum of 8 hours.
Examples:
- In France: 2 days (14 hours), with 4 to 10 participants, per INRS (National Institute for Research and Security) guidelines;
- In Belgium: 2 days (15 hours), up to 15 participants, no minimum, as per FPS Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue;
- In Luxembourg: 2 days (16 hours), with 12 to 25 participants, following INFS recommendations.
Learning objectives (skills and competencies):
The pedagogical objectives of this training are to:
- Provide immediate, appropriate and lasting protection to oneself, the casualty, and others in the presence of danger;
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator);
- Deliver initial first aid to a casualty in order to prevent the situation from worsening until professional help arrives;
- Be able to alert or have someone alert the emergency services;
- Identify a medical issue in a casualty, assess the severity, and take appropriate action.
Course content and modules:
The course content adheres to the standards of the French INRS (National Institute for Research and Safety).
Key topics include:
- Workplace first aid fundamentals;
- Identifying ongoing risks and protecting the scene;
- From “protecting” to “preventing”;
- Assessing the casualty and raising the alarm;
- From “alerting” to “informing”;
- Providing aid:
- Airway obstruction;
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
- Using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator);
- Bleeding & wounds;
- Burns;
- Trauma;
- Medical emergencies;
- Loss of consciousness;
- Cardiac arrest.
- Scenarios related to specific workplace risks.
Assessment methods (during and end of training):
- Initial skills assessment at the start of the course;
- Final knowledge assessment via a practical test.
Training monitoring:
- Attendance sheets (or digital login records);
- Daily objective assessments;
- Participant feedback form;
- Issuance of a training participation certificate.
Educational resources provided:
AMARANTE Académie delivers training based on best practices, comprising around 30% theory and up to 70–80% hands-on exercises.
The course includes highly realistic scenarios, staged within your workplace and adapted to the specific risks identified by our training team (including casualty make-up and simulations).
