Stop The Bleed®
The Stop The Bleed® training course, whose content is certified by the American College of Surgeons, aims to equip participants with the skills to stop life-threatening bleeding and intervene swiftly and effectively before emergency services arrive. This training focuses specifically on the management of traumatic haemorrhages, which can lead to death within minutes if not treated rapidly.
Target audience:
All personnel requiring training in the management of massive haemorrhage.
Terms and conditions of access
Stop The Bleed® training sessions can accommodate up to 10 people per session.
Entry requirements and conditions:
There are no prerequisites for this course. Our teaching team is available to ensure personalised support tailored to each training group.
Training venue:
AMARANTE Académie operates several training centres across Europe, including France and Belgium. Training may also be delivered at a location of the client’s choice, including internationally, provided the venue meets the necessary conditions for delivery.
Duration and delivery method:
This first aid course lasts half a day and is delivered exclusively in person. Each training session has a maximum duration of 4 hours.
Learning objectives (skills and competencies):
The course is designed to help participants:
- Understand the physiological mechanisms of haemorrhage and their effects on the human body;
- Identify different types of bleeding (internal, external, arterial, venous, capillary) and assess their severity;
- Recognise the clinical signs of haemorrhage;
- Master bleeding control techniques such as manual pressure, tourniquet application, and the use of haemostatic dressings;
- Monitor the patient’s condition;
- Prepare the patient for safe evacuation.
Content, programme and modules:
The certified Stop The Bleed® training is based on the Hartford Consensus programme developed by the American College of Surgeons, and is enhanced by AMARANTE’s own expertise in tactical medical operations.
- Key topics include:
- Use of commercial and improvised tourniquets;
- Major causes of bleeding and their impact on survival;
- Extremity bleeding and tourniquet use;
- Junctional bleeding and wound packing techniques;
- Unconventional bleeding scenarios and response strategies;
- Use of pressure dressings;
- Common myths and misconceptions about massive haemorrhage.
This course may be integrated into a broader First Aid course, to further deepen skills in haemorrhage control. (Refer to our “First Aid Training” page.)
Certification available on this programme:
- American College of Surgeons: Our training is officially certified and compliant with the Stop The Bleed® programme developed by the American College of Surgeons.
Assessment methods:
- Initial placement test at the beginning of the course;
- Final practical assessment to confirm acquired skills.
Course monitoring and evaluation:
- Attendance sheets (or login records where applicable);
- Daily progress assessments;
- Course evaluation form completed by each participant;
- Certificate of attendance issued at the end of the course.
Teaching methods and materials:
AMARANTE Académie is committed to delivering hands-on training based on best practices. The course typically consists of 30% theory and 70–80% practical exercises.
The practical portion is based on highly realistic simulations using scenarios developed by our expert instructors.

Teaching team:
A dedicated team of qualified instructors will be assigned to your group. All instructors are certified and possess substantial experience in first aid and tactical medicine. They will guide and support participants throughout the session.
Depending on their individual background, instructors typically have:
- Extensive training in first aid, resuscitation, emergency care, and tactical medicine;
- Significant experience in high-risk contexts, such as crisis situations, conflict zones, or disaster response, where rapid and effective medical intervention is vital;
- A strong ability to teach practical skills adapted to emergency interventions, whether in civilian or military settings.
