Remote Area Combat First Aid
The objective of the RACFA Tactical Medical Training is to meet the needs of operators working in unstable zones by providing them with the necessary skills to manage and treat combat-related trauma and injuries. This training enables participants to implement emergency medical techniques while enhancing safety awareness and providing basic to intermediate levels of emergency trauma care.
Target audience:
Basic level: Civilians, security agents, drivers;
Intermediate level: Close protection officers
Terms and conditions of access
To ensure meaningful interaction between our instructors and participants, a ratio of 1 instructor per 6 participants is maintained. A minimum group size of 15 participants is recommended. Enrolment requires a preliminary exchange with the academic team and is subject to the availability of places.
Entry requirements and prerequisites:
No prerequisites are required. Our academic team is available to ensure personalised support for each training group.
Training location:
AMARANTE Académie offers several training centres across Europe, notably in France and Belgium. Training can also take place at a location chosen by the client, including internationally, provided that the location meets the required conditions for training.
Duration and organisation:
The training duration is tailored to the modules selected by the client, within the following limits:
- The minimum duration for basic certification is 2 days (16 hours total);
- The intermediate training can last up to 5 days (40 hours total), depending on the client's needs;
- Each training day has a maximum duration of 8 hours.
Objectives (skills and competencies aimed for):
The pedagogical objectives of the RACFA training are:
- To develop skills to rapidly assess trauma and determine treatment priorities;
- To acquire competencies in treating common injuries encountered in combat contexts;
- To learn to collaborate with other responders for a coherent and effective medical response;
- To develop skills for making fast, effective decisions under pressure.
Content, programme, modules, blocks:
The following topics are covered in the basic 2-day RACFA training:
- Care Under Fire ;
- Self-Help / Assistance To others ;
- MARCH Protocol (Tactical Field Care);
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) ;
- Prehospital trauma resuscitation (optional module) ;
- Burns, illnesses, fluid resuscitation, over-the-counter medication;
- Minor illnesses ;
- Emergency extraction techniques ;
- Team resource management and decision-making;
- Team communication ;
- Vehicle-based interventions and extraction.
Programme standards:
The RACFA course is recognised by several certification bodies, including:
- Società Italiana di Medicina del Soccorso;
- European Resuscitation Council;
- Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care;
- American Safety and Health Institute;
- Australasian Registry Emergency Medical Technicians;
- International Trauma Life Support.
Assessment during and at the end of the course:
- Placement test at the start of training;
- Skills assessment via a final practical exercise.
Course monitoring :
- Attendance sheets (or login records);
- Daily learning objective assessment;
- End-of-course evaluation form to be completed by each participant;
- Issuance of the following certificates, valid for 3 years:
- RACFA Participation Certificate – AMARANTE Académie ;
- RACFA Certification – AREMT Tactical Medical Faculty;
- RACFA Certification and Credits – CAPCE 16 CE EMT ;
- RACFA Certification – CPD.
Teaching methods and tools:
AMARANTE Académie ensures that best practices are transmitted through a training programme composed of approximately 30% theory and 70% (max. 80%) practical exercises.
The practical component of the course is based on highly realistic scenarios developed by our team of instructors.

Training team:
A dedicated team of instructors will be selected based on your specific needs. All are certified and have solid experience in field deployment and medical care in hostile environments. They will support you throughout the training.
Depending on their profile, they typically have:
- Field experience in emergency care, prehospital interventions, and trauma management in critical situations;
- Professional background in the paramedical sector as first responders, nurses or emergency doctors, with expertise in severe trauma management, resuscitation, and intensive care;
- Proven pedagogical skills, training health professionals in emergency response, resuscitation, and pre-hospital trauma management.
