Pre hospital training- Certified NAEMT

The Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course was developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), a professional organisation of emergency medical services practitioners and leaders, based in Clinton, USA.
The International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) course was developed by the International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) non-profit organisation, based in Chicago, USA.
Both courses share the common objective of equipping participants with the skills required to improve the pre-hospital and in-hospital assessment and management of trauma patients. These training programmes are internationally recognised standards among pre-hospital care providers worldwide.
Target audience:
All professionals involved in pre-hospital care, both in- and out-of-hospital settings (first responders, nurses, firefighters, paramedics) who require training in pre-hospital trauma management.
Terms and conditions of access
A ratio of 1 instructor to 6 participants is preferred. A minimum number of 12 participants is recommended.
Entry requirements and conditions:
- Prior medical or paramedical training, with submission of the relevant certificate to the training provider;
- Completion of an online pre-test, based on the document provided upon registration.
Training venue:
AMARANTE Académie provides access to multiple training centres across Europe, notably in France and Belgium. Courses may also be conducted at a client-designated location, including internationally, provided the venue meets the required standards for course delivery.
Duration and delivery method:
The PHTLS and ITLS Provider courses each last 2 days (16 hours total), delivered in a face-to-face format. Each training day is limited to a maximum of 8 hours.
Learning objectives (skills and competencies):
The educational goals of both PHTLS and ITLS courses are:
- To develop the ability to carry out a rapid and systematic assessment of trauma patients;
- To enhance the participant’s capability to deliver appropriate care and manage patients effectively;
- To learn and master relevant technical procedures based on current skill levels;
- To improve team communication during trauma patient management in emergency settings;
- To initiate patient transport as early as possible, in accordance with medical regulation protocols.
Programme content and modules:
Topics covered during the PHTLS and ITLS Provider courses include:
- Evaluation and management of trauma patients;
- Scene assessment and evacuation;
- Airway management – basic and advanced techniques;
- Spinal injury management and immobilisation;
- Extremity immobilisation;
- Cardiac arrest and shock management;
- Management of specific types of trauma;
- Adapting care to special circumstances and cases.
Assessment methods during and post-course:
- Initial skills assessment upon entry;
- Knowledge validation through a multiple-choice questionnaire at the end of the course.
Course monitoring and certification:
- Attendance sheets (or login records for online elements);
- Daily learning objectives reviewed and assessed;
- Course evaluation form to be completed by each participant;
- Issuance of a certificate of participation upon completion.
Teaching resources and methodology:
AMARANTE Académie ensures delivery of training based on best practices, with approximately 30% theoretical content and 70–80% hands-on practical exercises.
Practical sessions are based on highly realistic scenarios, developed by the instructor teams to simulate real-world emergencies.

The training is available from €900 per person (excl. VAT), depending on the number of participants, training location, and selected modules.

Teaching team:
A dedicated teaching team will be selected according to your specific needs, comprising certified instructors by NAEMT and/or ITLS, all with extensive medical and paramedical field experience. They will support participants throughout the entire training period.
Depending on their profile, our instructors possess:
- A recognised certification from NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians) and/or ITLS (International Trauma Life Support);
- Field experience in emergency care, pre-hospital interventions, and trauma management in critical situations;
- Professional backgrounds in paramedicine, including first responders, nurses or emergency physicians, with expertise in trauma care, resuscitation and intensive care;
- Proven teaching skills, training healthcare professionals in emergency response, resuscitation, and trauma care in pre-hospital environments.
