Fire First Intervention Team Member - Certifying
The Fire First Intervention Team Member Training - Initial (EPI) aims to equip participants with the ability to respond effectively in the event of a fire and to comply with related legal obligations. Through this training, employees become first responders—individuals capable of acting before emergency services arrive. They will learn to identify the early stages of a fire and take appropriate action (alert emergency services, use fire extinguishers, organise evacuation procedures, etc.).
Target audience:
All company personnel required to be trained as part of a Fire First Intervention Team Member (EPI).
Terms and conditions of access
PPE training is conducted exclusively in person and in accordance with the national legislation in force in the countries where the training is conducted. The duration of the training, as well as the minimum and maximum number of participants, may vary depending on the country in which the training is conducted.
Training venue:
Our training organisation offers to deliver this course in-house, at your company premises, in accordance with national regulations.
Duration and organisation:
EPI training is delivered exclusively in person and in accordance with national legislation in the countries of delivery. The duration of the course, as well as the minimum and maximum number of participants, may vary depending on the country in which it is conducted. Each training day lasts a maximum of 8 hours.
- In France, the training lasts half a day (4 hours total) and accommodates a maximum of 12 participants, with no minimum required, in accordance with INRS recommendations;
- In Belgium, the training lasts one day (8 hours total) and also accommodates up to 12 participants, with no minimum required, as per the Federal Public Service for Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue;
- In Luxembourg, the training lasts half a day (4 hours total), with a maximum of 12 participants, and no minimum required, as per INFS guidelines.
Aims and learning outcomes:
The learning objectives of this training include:
- Understanding the causes of fire, how it spreads, and associated hazards;
- Learning how to correctly use fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and other safety equipment;
- Acquiring practical skills to safely extinguish an incipient fire;
- Knowing evacuation procedures, emergency exits, and how to guide others during an emergency;
- Providing emergency care to burn victims and/or those affected by smoke inhalation;
- Strengthening stress management and decision-making skills in critical situations;
- Adopting the right behaviours to protect oneself and others;
- Preventing fire risks through the implementation of safety measures;
- Knowing how to alert and inform emergency services.
Content, programme, modules:
The course content adheres to the standards of the French National Institute for Research and Safety (INRS). Topics covered include:
- Causes of fire;
- Fire classifications;
- Types of alarms;
- How and with what to respond to the outbreak of a fire;
- Door control procedures;
- Calling and receiving emergency services;
- Evacuation planning and techniques;
- Evacuation zones;
- Use of foam and CO₂ extinguishers;
- Use of fire blankets for pan fires and on a person;
- Explanation of how a fire hose reel works.
Assessment during and/or at the end of the training:
- Pre-training knowledge assessment;
- Final practical assessment to validate knowledge and skills.
Training execution monitoring:
- Attendance sheets;
- Assessment of learning objectives;
- Post-training evaluation form completed by each participant;
- Certificate of Participation issued for the "Fire First Response Team" training.
Teaching methods and materials:
Amarante ensures that best practices are shared through a training approach combining around 40% theory and 60% practical exercises.
The course includes live fire extinguisher handling scenarios using our mobile fire training trailer.

- Significant experience delivering fire safety training (SSIAP, evacuation, extinguisher handling, emergency planning, etc.);
- Developed pedagogical skills across various sectors;
- A thorough understanding of fire safety regulations and applicable standards.
