Driver safety & armoured vehicules

As a training organisation whose educational programme is recognised by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), AMARANTE Académie offers driver safety training designed to develop the skills required to operate a vehicle (standard or armoured) in sensitive areas, respond appropriately in the event of an incident or threat, and ensure secure mobility. 

Target audience:

All security personnel requiring training in defensive driving techniques in hostile environments.

Terms and conditions of access

To ensure optimal safety and interactivity between participants and instructors, each session is limited to 12 trainees, with a ratio of 1 instructor per 6 participants.

Entry requirements and prerequisites:

For non-armoured vehicles :

- valid category B driving licence.

For armoured vehicles

- valid category C or C1 driving licence..

Training locations:

AMARANTE Académie offers several training centres across Europe, notably in France and Belgium. Training can also be delivered at a location selected by the client, including internationally, provided the location meets the necessary training requirements.

Duration and delivey:

The duration of the course depends on the number of modules selected by the client, within the following limits:

- The minimum duration required to validate the basic course is 3 days (24 hours of training);
- The maximum duration is 5 days (40 hours of training), subject to the client’s needs;
- Each training day lasts a maximum of 8 hours.

Objectives (Skills and Competencies):

The learning objectives of this training are outlined below and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the client:

- Develop the reflexes needed in case of incidents and/or threats, and adopt appropriate behaviour;
- Learn the behaviours required for effective security control;
- Understand and apply convoy driving techniques;
- Improve the ability to assess road hazards;
- Strengthen decision-making abilities in emergency situations;

For armoured vehicle training only:

- Learn and master specific armoured vehicle driving techniques, including weight management, blind spot awareness, and vehicle handling in emergencies, while applying the same safety and convoy-driving principles as with standard vehicles.

Content, Programme, Modules:

Each driving course is tailored to the client’s specific needs, environment, and operational vehicle types. However, as a RoSPA-recognised provider, AMARANTE Académie offers core programmes covering the following standard topics over a 3-day course:

- Basic vehicle maintenance;
- Emergency first aid;
- Security checks (including IED inspection using mirrors, etc.);
- Stress response techniques;
- Emergency stop / evasive steering;
- Defensive and offensive emergency driving techniques;
- Convoy driving.

Additional modules may include:

- Off-road driving and recovery;
- Specialised course on operating armoured vehicles (including all “standard” topics);
- Safe (defensive/offensive) driving.

Assessment methods during and after training:

- Initial skills assessment upon course entry;
- Final skills validation through a practical exercise.

Training follow-up and monitoring:

- Attendance sheets;
- Daily objectives learning assessments;
- End-of-course evaluation form completed by each participant;
- Certificate of participation issued upon course completion.

Teaching methods and resources:

AMARANTE Académie ensures high-quality instruction based on best practices, combining approximately 30% theory with 70% (up to 80%) practical exercises.

The practical component is based on highly realistic scenarios developed by our instructor teams.

As a RoSPA-recognised organisation, our training complies with the highest safety standards.

The course is available from €2,000 per person (excluding VAT), depending on the number of participants, the location, and the modules selected.

Training team:

A dedicated training team, selected from our pool of certified instructors, will be assigned to your session. All our instructors have extensive driving experience in sensitive zones and will be available throughout the course.

Depending on their background, they may have:

- Military, police or civilian experience within operational units (sensitive zones, convoy missions, overseas deployments, etc.);
- Additional training in teaching, road safety, and defensive/offensive driving according to operational needs;
- Significant field experience, often enhanced by international missions or high-security contexts.
