In order to better face the new challenges in the field of security, Amarante's team integrates skills and expertise from both the military field (former executives of elite units of the French Armed Forces) and civilians (specialised engineers, graduates of elite higher education institutions).
Roland joined Amarante in July 2019 in its Madagascar office as Director of Airport Security Operations. He currently oversees operations at the eight international airports of the country.
Roland started his career in civil aviation security in Europe in 1991 and then continued it as Operations Manager for a leader of the sector in Senegal and Nigeria. Later on, he held several key positions in Nigeria, including Senior Aviation Security Manager West Africa for a leading European airline. To date, he has completed more than 23 years of expatriation in the African continent, of which 20 in Nigeria (including Port Harcourt).
Roland is an ICAO-certificated aviation security (AVSEC) instructor since 2014, and was also accredited by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in 2016. Among other responsibilities, he served as instructor during the first major privatization of the security services of an African airport, carried out in Côte d'Ivoire. Roland is a Belgian national and speaks fluently Dutch, French, English, Spanish and German.
